James John Hamilton House
A Beautifully Refurbished School House
Holiday Accommodation/Backpacker Lodge
James John Hamilton House is an old School House in the heart of the coastal town of Fishguard, in a quiet side street a stone’s throw from the centre of town.
It has been attractively refurbished to provide top quality holiday accommodation. There are four bedrooms, three en-suite and one with its own private adjoining bathroom that together provide ample room for up to 8 adults and 2 children. Additionally, there is also a small attic room with pull-out double bed for extra accommodation, if needed.
A large sunlit living room and modern fully equipped kitchen are situated on the first floor with one bedroom and bathroom, the other three en-suite bedrooms are on the ground floor along with an extra shower room. With modern fittings and eclectic antique furnishings, it offers the perfect space for family get togethers, groups of friends or couples and allows perfect access for those choosing to explore the beautiful coast of West Wales. Up to two clean, well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay.
Outside there is a barbecue / Al fresco dining area where you can relax with a glass or two after your day’s adventures. There is also a hot tub available for group bookings – ask for details.
The quaint market town of Fishguard offers a range of restaurants, shops, pubs and amenities yet remains quiet and peaceful even in the height of the summer. There are beaches, coastal walks, adventure activities and wildlife watching all within a few miles of the front door.
Eat, drink, relax and laugh together in the light, spacious living room where the exposed beams and low feature windows echo the original use of this beautiful old building. Comfortable leather couches, cosy throws and squashy cushions welcome you home from the day’s activities or offer comfort until breakfast is done and you are ready to set off and explore.
For stay-at-home days and chill-out evenings, full Wi-Fi and internet connected TV provide alternative entertainment options and keep everyone amused.

We were down visiting for the Eisteddfod and this lovely hostel was the perfect place to stay. Our room was lovely and warm, with an en-suite which felt very luxurious. What really made our stay was the hostel owner Steve. What a wonderful, kind and welcoming man! In a world where everything is increasingly online and impersonal it was a joy to be met and offered a cuppa and a chat. Steve is such an interesting person and was able to give us tips on where to go for food and drink after a long drive. Would definitely stay again and thoroughly recommend. Thank you!Posted on Google Chaima HaleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a wonderful time at Hamilton House. Steve is a warm, hospitable, and generous host. On arrival, he made us a fab cuppa and had thoughtfully stocked the kitchen with local butter, eggs, bread, milk, and delicious Welsh cakes. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The house also had everything in place for a cosy rainy day. The location is ideal for day trips, with plenty of lovely independent cafés and restaurants in the quaint village nearby. Highly recommend staying here — we’ll definitely be back!Posted on Google Rhys HolmesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This place was super. Steve, who runs it, is a wonderful man. The building and rooms are amazing. Lapsang Souchong and bougie marmalades as standard for breakfast, unreal. Thanks for the late night save.
